New Hero: Mycella
Season 7 brings Mycella, the Voice of the Undergrowth, to Backpack Brawl with a brand new set of items. Mycella is part of a fungal hivemind that tends the woods as her garden. She never hunts and never hurries. She waits, and reclaims whatever falls to the soil.
She takes what falls, plants what she takes. Somewhere below, something older is pleased.

Mycella’s Kit
Mycella’s gameplay is built around three pillars:
- From Spore to Colony — Everything starts with a humble Spore. It spreads while it sits in your bag, and each time you enter the shop it grows into whatever its neighbours feed it: a Fleshcap beside Ingredients, a Mindcap beside Pets, a Rotcap beside Armor. Grow each cap into a Cluster, then a Colony, and watch it get hungrier along the way. Caps belong to Fungus, a brand-new item type, and much of her kit scales with every Fungus it touches. The more of your backpack the mycelium covers, the stronger the whole network gets.
- The Hivemind — Mycella’s pets never fight alone; they share one mind. Mindcaps feed Pets bonus while inflicting on your opponent, draining their max health and making every hit land harder — and no amount of will keep it out. Crown the network with the Mindcap Crown to make your pets attack faster for every on the opponent, and recruit a Hivemind Snapper or a Mushrat to spread the madness on every bite.
- Nothing Goes to Waste — The soil keeps what it takes. Her Walkermelon line and the Apple Fritter Critter absorb a Ingredient every shop visit and replay it on hit. The Rod of Reclamation and Staff of Infestation steal your opponent’s buffs and hand back , while the Moldy Fungarium lets good food go gloriously bad — exactly how the network likes it. Even a Rotten Apple or a Spoiled Sausage still has a bite left in it.
Rounding out the kit are build-defining Unique items like the Spellcap Colony, Sporeweaver’s Sac, Veiled Sporecap Cape, Fungalmancer Focus, and Sporestalker, plus a brand-new Relic, the Phylactery Truffle, for a garden that heals itself.
Getting Mycella
Mycella is initially available exclusively in the Gold Pass. From there she opens up step by step:
- October 12 — Mycella joins the Subscribers’ weekly rotation
- October 19 — Mycella free week: everyone can try her out
- October 26 — Mycella becomes available for general purchase, for gems and normal purchases
Fungus: A New Item Type
Mycella brings a whole new item type with her: Fungus. Her caps, clusters, and colonies all belong to it, and a lot of her kit gets stronger for every Fungus it touches. The mushrooms you already know — Fly Agaric, Fury Fungus, Corrupted Shroom, Moldemort, and even the Blue Chilly Cheese — have joined the family too, so there’s plenty of cross-hero mischief to discover. Fungus also gets its own filter in the Collection, so you can see the whole network at a glance.
Haunted Harvest
The harvest moon is rising over the Undergrowth. Complete the season challenges to earn Lanterns, then carry them to the Haunted Harvest shop to unlock exclusive spooky cosmetics and chests — avatars, emblems, a banner, a name style, and even a haunted Inventory Skin. Lanterns light the way through all 7 weeks of challenges, so keep collecting. When the harvest ends, any leftover Lanterns are carved into Coins.

👻 New Events
Three new Events roll through the woods this season, each with its own flavor of trouble:
- Spore Wars — Mushroom Madness! The mushrooms didn’t just grow here, they took root in the dead. The graveyard glows, the spirits stir, and something ancient waits in the tower ahead. Fight your way through, or become part of the garden.
- Enduring Evil — Can you last through the night? An ancient evil has awoken, and every time it is slain it returns the next day, stronger than before. Defeat it, but make each fight last as long as you can: every second you survive is worth points, and a win doubles them.
- Undying Infestation — Requiem of the Rat King. The Cult of Whiskers has been deceived by a Lich’s false promises and seeks to resurrect their fallen leader. Is it already too late to stop the Rat-pocalypse?
The new Events come with a twist: random Event Boons are added to both you and your opponent for the duration of the event, so every run plays by slightly different rules.
Event rewards got richer, too: milestone rewards now pay out item cards, relic cards, and Coins, each revealed with its own card celebration. That goes for the three new Events as well as returning favourites like Bling Bling, Celestial Census, and The Bazaar.
🔒 Relic Locking
Rerolling relics just got a lot less painful. When the relic shop offers something you like, you can now lock one or more relics before rerolling. Locked relics stay right where they are, and only the rest get replaced, so you can keep looking without losing the ones you wanted.
Relics get a little love elsewhere too: relic cards can now drop from the relic chest, and relics level up the moment you receive their cards.
Wild Garden Evolved
The garden grows, and new content awaits. Wildlife is moving in, your plants are thirsty, and the garden must grow!
- Garden Level 75 — Garden unlocks now stretch all the way to Garden Level 75 (was 33)
- 💧 Water Boost — A revolutionary new type of boost for your garden. Water a plot to double what it produces for a full day, with charges to collect and spend
- New plants — Sunsponges join the Fungus family, the Hazel Thicket joins the Thickets, and Cattails and Lily Pads debut a whole new type of plant: Aquatic. Also… Nuts!
- 🐛 Wildlife — A whole new feature to unlock and explore. Wildlife lets you convert your resources into slightly fancier resources. Turn your Leaf into a Worm, or your Scrap into a Grub. Turn your Grub into a Fly, or add a Leaf and make a Cocoon. Turn your Fly into a Spider, because spiders eat flies, so that makes sense, right?
- 22 new resources to grow, produce, and collect
- 138 visitors (up from 55) asking for a much wider variety of resources
- More room to grow — more seed shop slots, more visitor slots, and double the Sunshine Boost capacity
- Mycella joins the garden — as an assignable hero she boosts every plot, gives an extra push to Fungus plots, and speeds up the Crawlers: Worms, Woodlice, Grubs, and Snails
Seeds, Restocked
The biggest change under the soil: seeds now come in packets that get used up as you plant, instead of being unlimited once unlocked. With Water, Wildlife, and over a hundred new visitors, we want what you plant to be a real decision, not the same best seed on every plot forever.
In return, seeds now turn up all over the game: daily seed packs for playing runs, Silver and Gold Daily Trophy Chests, and the seed shop, which restocks regularly and sells seeds for .
Nobody starts empty-handed, either. Existing gardeners receive 5 seed packets of every previously unlimited seed they have unlocked: Succulents, Thorny Thicket, Mushrooms, Oak & Ash, Gourds & Grains, Tree Fruits, Day-Bloomers, and Beehive. They are simply waiting in your seed selection after the update. The special seeds that already came in packets keep the packets you have. Every seed you unlock from here on arrives with a starter supply: 5 packets for Common seeds, 3 for special ones.
Alongside this, plant timers have increased to balance out everything new the garden can produce.
To be clear: your plots, garden level, resources, and unlocked plants are untouched. This is a big shift and we will be watching it closely — tell us on Discord how your seed supply feels, especially in the early garden levels.
There is also a long list of Wild Garden quality of life improvements further below.

🌟 Returning Features
Season Pass
The Season Pass returns with Mycella as the featured hero. Unlock Mycella through the Gold Pass, along with her legendary Wyrmgold skin, her Moonglow skin, the Season 7 Inventory Skin, and the usual spread of banner, emblem, and name style to show off your allegiance to the Undergrowth.

The Season 7 Inventory Skin: the forest floor comes to your backpack.
Mycella’s legendary Wyrmgold skin, headlining the Season 7 Gold Pass. Still a work in progress — details may change before release.
The pass leans into the season’s theme — expect chapters like Shroom And Gloom, Toxic Relationship, Wicked Wares, and Fly My Pretties! on your way to the top.
Seasonal Boons
The Boon system returns with ten brand-new seasonal Boons for Season 7: Borrowed Vigor, Hyphal Siphoning, Mycotrophic Conversion, Parasitic Powerup, Return The Favor, Spooky Supplies, Sporadic Spore Clouds, The Need To Feed, Toxic Symbiosis, and Tricky Treats. Discover them in game to see what they do.
Season Challenges
7 weeks of challenges return, encouraging experimentation across heroes and strategies. This season they also feed the Haunted Harvest: every challenge you complete earns you Lanterns.
Mythic Ranking Reset
Like in previous seasons, every player in Mythic resets to Mythic 0 on Season 7 start. All other rankings stay as they are. And remember: to count for the leaderboards, your hero must play and complete at least one run this season.
Retired: Special Shops
Special Shops were a Season 6 mechanic and are retired with this update. Thanks to everyone who visited the Bladesmith, the Fishmonger, the Arcanist, and the rest of the crew.
Balance Changes
Season 7 ships with a balance pass across relics, shared items, and several heroes, including lower relic sell prices and a rework of Enoch’s Halloween items to fit the new absorb mechanics. Detailed balance notes will be available right here on the site once everything has crystallized and settled.
A few familiar items also get clearer names: Bolts are now Steel Bolts, Cheese is now Mild Cheese, and Bat is now Cave Bat. Same items, same effects, just easier to tell apart from their fancier cousins.
Coming in 7.1: Guilds
Guilds are on the way! It takes time to get all the details settled, so we will launch them when they’re ready, in the 7.1 update. More on that soon.
See You in the Undergrowth!
Season 7: Undergrowth brings Mycella and her ever-growing colonies, three new Events, a Haunted Harvest full of spooky rewards, a Wild Garden that has doubled in size, relic locking, and a fresh set of seasonal boons. The foxfire is lit. The soil is waiting.
