New Hero: Skara
Season 6 brings Skara, the Kobold Pit Fighter, to Backpack Brawl with a brand new set of items. Skara lives for the roar of the crowd! In the arena, no one brawls with more gusto. Outside it, she’s just a sweet little sun-lizard.
Sweet as sunshine… until she steps in the ring.

Skara’s Kit
Skara’s gameplay is built around three pillars:
- Blood Sport — Skara isn’t afraid to bleed for the crowd. Her signature Bloody Backpack has a chance on weapon and pet hits to inflict on both players, converting the carnage into . The more blood in the pit, the stronger she gets.
- The Gladiator’s Arsenal — Upgrade a humble Pugio into a Gladius, a Bloodsport Spatha, and ultimately the Crowdpleaser’s Crusher. Every weapon line tells the story of a career in the pits.
- Dragon Heritage — Kobolds keep good company. Craft Dragon Bone into brutal maces, armor up with Dragon Scale, and raise Dragon Whelplings in a variety of colors to fight at your side.
Rounding out the kit are build-defining Unique items like the Bookie’s Coin Purse, Champion’s Laurels, Retiarius Net, and Sponsor’s Banner — because every great pit fighter needs a sponsor.
Getting Skara
Skara is initially available exclusively in the Gold Pass. From there she opens up step by step:
- August 17 — Skara joins the Subscribers’ weekly rotation
- August 24 — Skara free week: everyone can try her out
- August 31 — Skara becomes available for general purchase, for gems and normal purchases
Special Shops
The underground has its own economy. Special Shops are a new type of shop that breaks the normal rules — they can sell hero-specific and even crafted items. You can encounter two Special Shops over the course of a run, and each time you’ll get a choice of three specialists — so it’s never completely random. Pick the one that fits your build, and it shapes your shopping from there on out.
Keep an eye out for the specialists setting up their stalls, each with their own stock and personality:

The right Special Shop at the right moment can take a run in a whole new direction. We’re excited to see what you build with them.
🦸 Hero Store Tab
Heroes now have a proper home in the store. The new Hero Store tab collects all the heroes in one place, so browsing, comparing, and unlocking your next main is easier than digging through offers.
🎨 Cosmetics: Inventory Skins & Legendary Hero Skins
Two new cosmetic categories arrive this season:
Inventory Skins — Your backpack is the real main character of Backpack Brawl, so it deserves cosmetics too. Inventory Skins let you customize the look of your inventory itself. The first one debuts as a Gold Pass reward.

The Season 6 Inventory Skin: the pit floor comes to your backpack.
Legendary Hero Skins — A new top tier of hero skins, with more going on than ever before — including custom voice-over lines. Skara’s legendary skin headlines the Season 6 Gold Pass.
Skara’s legendary skin, headlining the Season 6 Gold Pass.
And a small but requested one: owned hero skins can now be equipped as your avatar, so you can represent your favorite look everywhere.
Loyalty Badges
We are adding special badges for time played and for being a member. Rack up a week, a month, a year — your badge tracks the highest milestone you’ve ever hit, and loyalty never regresses. Wear your dedication with pride.

Season Pass Revamp
The Season Pass gets a proper rework this season:
- Skip steps for gems — You can now skip as many steps as you want in the Season Pass for gems. Your pass, your pace.
- Capstones — Major milestone rewards placed along the pass, always visible so you can see the next big prize you’re working toward.
- New Gold Pass cosmetic rewards — including Skara’s legendary skin and the first Inventory Skin.
The pass itself leans into the season’s theme — expect chapters like Welcome To Fight Club, Bloodsport, and Enter The Dragon on your way to the title.

Crit Damage Baseline Halved
Baseline from items and levels goes from +100% to +50% — a baseline crit now hits for 1.5× damage instead of 2×.
Crit scaling has been creeping up over the seasons, to the point where stacking crit was crowding out other build paths. Pulling the baseline down gives crit-focused items and heroes room to feel special again, and gives us more headroom to make deliberate payoffs exciting rather than default. Individual items that are meant to be crit payoffs will still deliver.
Shop Discounts Adjusted
Items in the shop sometimes go on sale during a gauntlet run. Sales will keep appearing just as often as they do today — but the discount is getting smaller: a discounted item now costs two thirds of full price (33% off) instead of half. A 12 item that used to drop to 6 on sale will now cost 8 .
Rounding works like it always has, rounding the discounted price up — a 4 item costs 3 on sale (4 × ⅔ = 2.67, rounded up).
To be clear, this only changes the discount when buying. Selling an item back to the shop still pays out half its original cost, same as always — a tavernkeeper has to make a living, after all.
Accuracy Rework
We’re making two changes to how accuracy works: a floor on how low can drag your hit chance, and a new scaling formula for and .
Updated July 27, based on your feedback: this post originally announced a 95% cap on hit chance — no more guaranteed hits. After reading the discussion on Discord and Reddit, we’ve dropped that cap: can still take you to an effective 100% hit chance. Thank you for the feedback!
- A floor, not a cap — can never force your hit chance below 5%: no matter how blinded you are, there’s always a chance the blow lands. In the other direction there’s no cap — stack enough and you can still reach an effective 100% hit chance for a guaranteed hit.
- New and scaling — Both effects move from a straight +hit/−miss progression to a curve: the first stack always gives a discrete, predictable increment, and extra stacks have diminishing returns. Stacking excessive amounts still helps, but each stack counts for a little less — which reins in how polarizing piled-up or could get, and makes both scale more smoothly across a wider range of fights.
and still cancel each other out one-for-one before the math applies, so 5 against 2 behaves exactly like 3 . Items and abilities that grant + directly are unchanged.
Wild Garden Updates
The Wild Garden keeps growing:
- Zahir buff — Sunshine Boost charges 5% → 10% faster
- Skara joins as an assignable hero — bringing her own boost to your garden plots
Quality of Life
- Chest opening — Opening chests is now smoother and faster
- Performance — Significant optimizations to memory and CPU use, for a smoother experience across devices
- Recruitment share links — Share your recruitment code as a link, straight into any chat
- Hero skins as avatars — Owned hero skins can also be equipped as your avatar
- Relic mining — Max no longer triggers the breadcrumb
- Charm absorber search — Apophian Saif and God-King Khopesh are now searchable as standard absorbers
Health Bar Markers
Health bars now show a tick line every 100 health, with a bigger one every 500 — so you can size up a fight at a glance, whether it’s an early skirmish or a late-run slugfest.

A line every 100 health, a bigger one every 500 — the more health, the tighter the lines pack.
🌟 Returning Features
Season Pass
The Season Pass returns with Skara as the featured hero. Unlock Skara through the Gold Pass, along with her legendary skin, the new Inventory Skin, and bonus rewards.
Seasonal Boons
The Boon system returns with ten brand-new seasonal Boons for Season 6, all steeped in pit-fight flavor. Two of them, as a taste of what awaits in the arena:
- Performance Bonus — the sponsors pay for a good show. Keep the and flowing and collect every time you enter the shop — but each payout raises the bar for the next one.
- Let the Crowd Decide — pocket some up front, then leave your fate to the stands: at the next shop, the crowd hands you a copy of a random seasonal boon on top of everything you already have.
Tap or hover them for the full rules — and discover the other eight in game.
Season Challenges
7 weeks of challenges return, encouraging experimentation across heroes and strategies.
Mythic Ranking Reset
